Being Jewish food has always been a large part of my culture. Every holiday has traditional foods, in fact we even add a meal on or Sabbath called Shabbat. We really just love to eat.

With a food allergic child this has posed a challange...how do we participate in the holidays without the food component? This is especially challenging considering the fact that the food aspect is so huge that Jews joke that, "We Eat, We Sleep, We Eat, We Pray, We Eat."

Everything has food at it no matter what. After services, at events, at child care, everything!

I realized that in order to continue celebrating holidays I would have to ulter traditions to be non-food related, change recipes to be safe, and create new ways to show my holiday spirit.

During this process I realized that many other people were in my boat so I started creating brochures for many holidays, including: Jewish, Christian, Secular and non-holiday celebrations like Birthdays.

If you follow the links to the left you will find ideals for many holidays. However, I'm working on the Brochures and they will be posted in the future on the Kids with Food Allergies Webiste. In addition if you would like to speak with other parents about how they celebrate holidays you can join the Kids with Food Allergy Support Forums and begin posting questions to find amazing suggestions from the incredible parents there.
