I love cooking and baking, I always have. So when I discovered that we would have to alter our cooking for our son I saw it as a fun challange rather than a scary chore.

I cook and bake everything without egg or milk products, we do not exclude his other allergens because a) they are not contact and/or anaphylactic and b) he only drinks his formula anyway.

I have really had a good time figuring out how to cook without eggs or milk. I've discovered even how to make faux cheese blintzes that taste like the real thing. I would like to attempt one of these days a New York cheese cake. I think that it would be a really fun challange for me.

I realize that not everyone enjoys cooking or even knows how when their child is diagnosed with a food allergy. If you find the whole cooking thing frightening I would suggest checking out some allergy free cookbooks but even more I would strongly suggest checking out the safe eats data base on Kids with Food Allergies. You can search everything by name or by allergen you are trying to avoid. In addition you can ask a million and one questions on the boards (there are ones designated for cooking) and many many women will write you back with suggestions, tips and advice.
